Neil Young has unearthed another so-called “lost” album. The artist shared that on August 11, he will drop a collection of 12 classic tracks titled Chrome Dreams via Reprise. The set of music presents studio arrangements cut by the esteemed musician from 1974 through 1976.

The impending drop will feature four tracks never released on vinyl. The collection is manufactured as a three-sided double LP, with an etching on side four. While the 12 songs which make up the content of the record have existed in other formats, the 2023 presentation gives listeners access to unique cuts of “Pocahontas,” “Like a Hurricane,” “Powerderfinger,” “Homegrown,” “Stringman,” and “Look Out for My Love.”

The uniqueness of the set is tied to a series of historical marks, “Powderfinger” represents an early solo rendition, a song synonymous with the 1979 LP Rust Never Sleeps. Moreover, “Pocahontas” is the same version that appears on the aforementioned seventh studio LP, only this time, it is presented without overdubs for a more stripped-down presentation.

“Sedan Delivery” and “Hold Back the Tears” also make the list. Both songs appear on Chrome Dreams in a different version than previous releases. Also included as added lyrics to “Hold Back the Tears.” While “Stringman” was included on the Odeon/Budokan disc in Archives Vol. II; prior to that, it had only appeared on Young’s Unplugged album.
