City Winery has unveiled four concert dates featuring singer/songwriter, keyboardist and frequent writing collaborator of the late-Leonard Cohen, Sharon Robinson, who will trek to some of the venue’s locations in major cities to deliver several classic tunes and memories of working with one of the music industry’s greatest talents.
Robinson’s run at City Winery kicks off in Boston on Sept. 27. There, she’ll deliver stories about her nearly 40-year friendship with Cohen. Additionally, she’ll perform an array of songs and use her time onstage to trace the lineage of her songwriting partnership with the esteemed music industry player. The songstress also intends to share some intimate and rare photographic imagery to accompany the narrative-like performance.
Following the Boston show, Robinson will make her way to The City of Brotherly Love for a performance at City Winery in Philadelphia on Oct. 8, followed by an Oct. 9 gig in Washington, D.C. Then, the last City Winery show will land on Oct. 29 and will take place in Nashville, Tenn., over Halloween weekend.
Robinson shared some context behind the upcoming performances with Relix; she stated: “I was invited into Leonard Cohen’s tower of song several times over the years as his songwriting collaborator. It always felt like an honor and a privilege and I’m excited to share with you some stories from those times.”
Then, the artist delves into what fans can expect from her City Winery shows; Robinson stated: “I’ll talk about how the partnership started, our writing process, and the friendship that developed. I will perform some of our best-known songs, weaving them into the story, and I’ll present photos and videos that I put together to enhance the experience.”
In conclusion, Robinson added, “I hope the show will continue to move the audience emotionally, as it has been, and offer deeper insights into the magic of writing songs with Leonard Cohen.”
