My husband is 23 years older than me – trolls say our age gap is ‘gross’ and ‘creepy’ but I don’t care

A WOMAN has left people totally stunned after she revealed that her husband is 23 years older than her.

Aaliya Lara, 26, and her husband, Steve Lara, 49, first met when Steve was in Los Angeles for a business meeting and she “caught his eye” in September 2019.

They have been together ever since and even got married in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The stay-at-home mother, who is from Rancho Cucamonga, in Southern California, took to social media to show off her age gap relationship, leaving many open-mouthed.

In a short clip, Aaliya posted an adorable picture of her and Steve, and advised her followers: “Don’t give up on love, your soulmate probably isn’t born yet.”

She then shared: “I’m glad we didn’t meet sooner…”

Following this, Aaliya shared a snap of Steve during his twenties, and wrote: “Him in 1998.”

Seconds later, she revealed a picture of her as a baby, as she penned: “Me in 1998”, visually showing off their large age gap.

But Aaliya is clearly not phased by their difference in age, as she described her husband as “a provider and protector.” 

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @aaliyalara, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly gone viral and has since racked up a jaw-dropping 10.4 million views. 

Social media users were left stunned by Aaliya and Steve’s age gap and many took to the comments to share their thoughts.

But there was a clear divide – whilst some thought they were ‘adorable’, others described their relationship as ‘creepy’.

One user beamed: “This is so cute.”

A second chimed in: “Love it.”

Whilst someone else penned: “Adorable couple.” 

However, not everyone was as kind, as one troll snapped: “Y’all really gotta stop glorifying relationships like this, it’s literally creepy.” 

Another agreed: “I KNEW this was going to be gross.” 

And a third expressed: “Y’all love giving away your youth to these men who have been around the block and are old enough to be your father.”

To this, Aaliya replied and shared: “I love giving my youth to a man who is deserving and very sure about what he wants in life rather than a younger man still playing in the streets.” 

At the same time, many women took to the comments to share more on their age gap relationships. 

One person said: “I’m 29 and my husband is 59. Older men know how to treat you like a queen.”

Another added: “I’m 25 and my man is 50.” 

A third commented: “I’m 20, my man’s 46.”

Opening up about the couple’s age gap, Aaliya told The U.S. Sun: “Since I’ve posted our relationship online, the negative comments have been plentiful.”

She added: “[We get] comments like, ‘This is sick,’ ‘He’s a predator,’ ‘He will leave you for someone younger when you get older,’ and many more that I try to block as soon as they pop up.

“I’ve taken into consideration everything that comes with dating a man older than me.

“It may sound naive but I am prepared to deal with whatever is thrown at us and intend to take care of him until his last breath.”
