The Spider Within, a short film in the Spider-Verse franchise, offers fans a closer look at Miles Morales. After premiering at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June – 2023, The Spider Within was released shortly following the theatrical debut of SpiderMan: Across the Spider-Verse. This short film, situated in the world of Across the Spider-Verse, is a joint venture between Sony Pictures Animation and Sony Pictures Imageworks.
Additionally, it forms part of Sony’s Leading and Empowering New Storytellers (LENS) mentorship program, launched in 2022 to cultivate opportunities for promising young creators from various backgrounds. Following its Annecy debut, the short received a favourable reception.

This narrative explores the multifaceted challenges experienced by Miles, particularly his anxiety as he navigates the intricate demands of familial obligations, academic pursuits, and the vigilant duties inherent in his role as the Spider-Man of Brooklyn. Confronted with the overwhelming intensity of a panic attack, Miles finds himself compelled to delve into the underlying causes of his psychological distress.
