Meghan King appears to have the best of her ex-husband Jim Edmonds’ interests at heart as she is rooting for his marriage to his new partner, Kortnie O’Connor.
King and Edmonds, who share three kids, were married for half a decade since 2014, separating in 2019, although they finalized their divorce last year. The 38-year-old star wished the newlyweds well while opening up about marking the significant feat in the former athlete’s life.
Meghan King Wants Jim Edmonds To Do Whatever It Takes To Stay Married
King, who was promoting her upcoming feature on HUD App’s “Reality Of Love,” revealed to US Weekly that Edmonds was “spending massive, whooping, inconceivable amounts of money on his bride,” which she approved. She wanted him to do whatever it took to keep his bride around, including “take her on lavish trips, buy her a Ferrari and Chanel [purses] and private jets.”
The Bravo star went on, “Do anything you can to keep this woman because I don’t know what would happen if she was gone. Like, he would fall apart.” She also pointed out that her ex-spouse’s marriage provided “stability” for their kids: Aspen, 5, and twins Hart and Hayes, 4, while admitting:
“[O’Connor] is who my children have known for the last three years. And that stability is really important. I haven’t been able to give them that stability and a partner, which is a huge piece of mom guilt for me.”
Even with Edmonds’s “mountain of faults” and the temporary restraining order she filed against him, King was ready to give him “props” when due. While confirming her kids’ absence at their father’s wedding, she also spoke about the restraining order, which was dropped earlier this month.
She maintained that the charges were not dropped because of fear but due to its change and evolution, which made her feel safe. Notwithstanding, the former couple entered into a “consent order” that kept similar terms as the restraining order.
King further revealed that everything got better since she got the order, and with Edmonds now in Italy, he left her alone. She also said, “It’s like his wedding day was also the best day of my life.”
Speaking of the temporary restraining order, it was filed in June when the TV personality accused the ex-sportsman of displaying “frequent and consistent verbal abuse” toward her even on their court-monitored co-parenting app, Our Family Wizard.
Three months later, the order was dropped, and not long after, Edmonds tied the knot with O’Connor in a destination wedding in Lake Como, Italy. PEOPLE detailed the beautiful ceremony revealing that the couple exchanged their vows in front of thirty-two guests at the Giardino del Mosaico, a nineteenth-century villa, part of the exquisite Villa d’Este.
The delighted bride told the magazine that it was “truly a dream wedding in a beautiful location” surrounded by important people in their lives. It was more than she could have ever imagined. Similarly, Edmonds finally understood “true happiness” for the first time in his life, and to him, the best part of the wedding was getting to spend the rest of his life with his beloved.
Fans will recall that the wedded duo first went public with their romance in April 2020 and got engaged last July, leading to their ultimate wedding in September.
“The Real Housewives of Orange County” Alum Lays Off Protection Orders Against Her Ex-Spouse
Before the 52-year-old’s marriage to O’Connor, his ex-wife cast off the two protection orders she filed against him, which her attorney also dismissed. The Blast previously reported that one of the orders was granted against Edmonds, while the second, a child protective order, was not.
The University of Mississippi alumnus shared details of the dismissal, saying that she had become more aware of what she experienced and how to manage it as she continued to heal. She further mentioned that she would stay “protected and safe with a binding document not accessible to the public.”
Shortly after the dismissal, her ex’s rep Steve Honig said the former baseball player was looking forward to putting all the events behind him as he began his new life with O’Connor. Edmonds also intended on focusing on their children, which the rep mentioned, adding that he believed King did not need any protection orders as there was no threat.
