The Summer Olympics are right around the corner. The storied sporting event will be hosted in Paris, France, gathering some of the most exciting talent from all over the world to show off their most impressive skills in front of millions of people. Today, the U.S. women’s basketball team announced its roster of talented players, which is made up of 12 athletes, including various medals and newcomers.
The women’s U.S. basketball team has won seven gold medals in a row, ever since they won in the 1996 games hosted in Atlanta. Scroll down to learn more about this year’s players:
Kahleah Copper plays for Phoenix Mercury. She is 29 years old and has had some great games over the past years, becoming the WNBA Finals MVP on the 2021 playoffs.
Chelsea Gray plays for the Las Vegas Aces. The 31 year old player has one various titles with Vegas, being considered one of her team’s most important players.
Sabrina Ionescu plays for New York Liberty. The 26 year old player has broken records over the course of her career, becoming the only NCAA Division I player to score 2,000 points, 1,000 assists, and 1,000 rebounds.
Jewell Loyd plays for Seattle Storm. She’s 30 years old and has played for a variety of teams, including Galatasaray, Shanxi Flame, Botas SK, and more.
Diana Taurasi is one of the best players in Phoenix Mercury, and one of the largest figures in U.S. women’s basketball. At 42 years old, Taurasi is one of 11 women to have won an Olympic gold medal, an NCAA championship, a FIBA world cup, and a WNBA Championship.
A’ja Wilson plays for the Las Vegas Aces. At 27 years old, she’s won gold at the Olympics and has helped her team win their first title in its history several times.
Jackie Young plays for the Las Vegas Aces, and at 26, she’s one of the youngest players of the U.S. Women’s Basketball team. She won gold in the olympics in 2022 and a WNBA championship two years later.
