Fishin’ Garrett is well known on social media as the ‘Swamp Puppy Guy’ thanks to his videos where he ‘yoinks’ alligators and snakes in the Everglades, videos that amass millions of videos and have brought him well over 13 million followers between TikTok and Instagram.
In most of FishinGarrett’s videos, he talks about catching a massive snake. He often references a 20 footer but is usually referring to the invasive Burmese pythons that have taken over South Florida. Garrett has finally caught the massive snake he’s been searching for but it was in Colombia and a green anaconda, not a Burmese python.
Interestingly, the green anaconda in Colombia was just discovered to be part of a distinct species to the green anacondas in Southern Brazil after groundbreaking research split the green anaconda into two distinct species with a genetic split that dates back 10 million years.
Garrett showcased pictures and video of his epic catch:
In the caption, he wrote “this big girl was 15‘9“ on the tape a lot of over exaggerated news articles would call this girl over 20+ feet but I like to be 100% honest and accurate with you guys! She’s one of the heaviest constrictors I’ve handled.”
FishinGarrett also shared video of his massive 16 foot anaconda that looks longer and thicker than the goal posts in a College Football game:
Seriously, lay that thing out next to the goal posts at Bryant–Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa and I’m banking on the snake being bigger than the goal posts. Right? That is an absolutely massive snake.
It is a bummer they didn’t get a weight on it as the anaconda is the heaviest snake in the world. The heaviest one ever weighed was supposedly 500+ pounds.
