Marvel Studios has officially announced that Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss Bachrach have been cast in The Fantastic Four.
At this time, The Fantastic Four, which will directed by WnadaVision director Matt Shakman, is scheduled to hit theaters on July 25, 2025. The movie will be the first film in Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In addition to the casting news, Marvel Studios also announced that the release date had been changed from May 2 to July 25, 2025, and that the title of the film is now The Fantastic Four.
Pascal, who has become one of Hollywood’s most popular A-listers in recent years, is best known for playing The Mandalorian in the Star Wars franchise and Joel in HBO’s The Last of Us.
As for Kirby, the Academy Award-nominated actress most recently starred as Josephine Bonaparte in Ridley Scott’s Napoleon.
Quinn and Moss-Bachrach are more recent breakouts, with the former making a name for himself in season four of Stranger Things, and the latter being one of the many breakout stars of FX’s hit series The Bear.
Given the relative struggles of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in recent years, nailing The Fantastic Four is going to be key for the health of the franchise going forward as Marvel’s “First Family” will surely be key players as the studio leads up to its next two Avengers movies.
The next Avengers movie, in particular, has become a source of chaos for Marvel Studios given the circumstances surrounding Jonathan Majors, whose Kang the Conqueror character was set up to be the next “big bad” of the franchise prior to his recent criminal charges that resulted in his firing from the MCU.
Next up for the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be Deadpool 3, officially titled Deadpool & Wolverine, which recently broke the record for the most trailer views in its first 24 hours.
