In a Twitter thread posted to his account, billionaire entrepreneur and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban flamed Elon Musk for turning the social media platform into a nightmare.
Earlier this week, Musk rolled out his plan to give blue checkmarks to anyone who pays the $8 fee without verifying who they are and it’s been nothing short of a disaster thus far, as pranks, impersonations, and parodies have run rampant.
Cuban believes that Twitter has effectively “killed the most valuable part” of its company, which he thinks was the “ability to quickly and easily find information from sources that I’ve chosen to trust.”
Mark Cuban blasts Elon Musk for “killing the most valuable part” of Twitter and turning the social media platform into a nightmare
“You definitely democratized everyone’s contributions. But you killed the most valuable part of Twitter, the ability to quickly and easily find information from sources I have chosen to trust. Think NBA trade deadline. This will be a NIGHTMARE,” Cuban tweeted.
“The value of Twitter to me is the speed at which I can get and share information. Just like you use it. BUT, Twitter stands out because while it can be a rabbit hole at times, there is significant time savings because of the legacy blue checkmark curation that Twitter has done.”

Musk’s reign as Twitter CEO has been tumultuous so far, to say the least. On Wednesday, the company rolled out grey “official” checkmarks to supplement the traditional blue checkmarks only to remove the feature mere hours later after getting thoroughly roasted for it.
The company has also laid off thousands of employees — some of which they have already asked to return — which has resulted in a massive class action lawsuit. Then, on Thursday morning, one of Twitter’s top lawyers sent a message to colleagues saying that Musk is “willing to take on a huge amount of risk in relation to this company and its users” and is putting the company at risk of being fined billions of dollars by the FTC.
The shocking report from The Verge says that Alex Spiro, Musk’s personal attorney and current head of legal, has said internally “Elon puts rockets into space, he’s not afraid of the FTC”
