If you’ve spent enough time on the internet, you’re likely familiar with the conspiracy theories that assert plenty of celebrities are members of the secret society known as the Illuminati. Katt Williams recently claimed Ludacris belongs to the organization that’s supposedly responsible for running the world, but the rapper has denied that’s actually the case.

Earlier this week, Katt Williams sat down with Shannon Sharpe for an incredibly wide-ranging interview where the comedian took some shots at Joe Rogan and his associates, accused Cedric the Entertainer of stealing jokes, and claimed Diddy offered him $50 million to engage in a very lewd act.

The conversation also featured a pretty bizarre segment where Williams said he and Ludacris were once invited to an “Illuminati thing” where the latter was promised $200 million (in the form of a $10 million check for 20 different movies) by pledging his allegiance to the shadowy cult commonly credited with pulling the strings in the entertainment industry, the world of politics, and beyond.

Now, I think calling that assertion “patently absurd” would be the ultimate understatement. The Illuminati was a real organization that was formed in Bavaria in the late 1700s, but virtually all of the “proof” concerning the existence of a supposed New World Order in the modern day involves tenuous claims of hidden symbolism and unsubstantiated stories like the ones Williams relayed.

Ludacris probably didn’t need to deny he belongs to the organization, but on Thursday, he decided to reply by hopping over the beat for “Devil in a New Dress” and delivering a freestyle where he shut down the notion he can credit the Illuminati for his success.

I definitely didn’t have “Ludacris freestyling to let the world know he is not in the Illuminati” on my 2024 bingo card, but congratulations to anyone who did for getting to mark that box less than a week into the year.
