The trailer for “Love Is Blind: After The Altar” couldn’t have come at a more timely moment, if we do say so ourselves!
Whether it’s coincidental or not, (more on that later), it’s about time we all get an update on all of our favorite couples from the second season of Netflix’s smash-hit reality series “Love Is Blind.”
This past week’s pop culture news cycle has been a whirlwind for the “Love Is Blind” cast.
The Blast was on hand to cover the breaking news that not one, but TWO couples from the series had called it quits and were headed for divorce. These pieces of news arrive not even a year after the series’ second season was released.
Wait, Back Up! What Happened?
The first surprising announcement was revealed last Wednesday, with the news Iyanna McNeely and her husband, Jarrette Jones, had not only separated but they intend to file for divorce. The couple shared a somber text post with the announcement on their respective Instagram accounts.
The post stresses, “While we have love for each other, our lives are going in different directions, and that’s okay. Coming to this decision was far from easy and we will always wish each other the absolute best.”
McNeely and Jones also acknowledged and thanked Netflix for the streamer’s “support.”
Not even a week after McNeely and Jones’ shocking announcement, documents originally obtained by TMZ surfaced showing their “Love Is Blind” castmates Danielle Ruhl and Nick Thompson had filed for divorce.
According to the documents per our report on the couple’s divorce, Ruhl had been the one to file, and she filed in Illinois.
We also shared Ruhl had divulged her dreams of revisiting their wedding day and celebrating “with a reception to make sure all of our families could be there…” to Us Weekly only a month ago.
Both McNeely and Ruhl have sought and enjoyed the comfort of their “Love Is Blind” besties, posting pictures on Instagram commemorating their dinners and hangouts.

Just one day after our coverage of Ruhl and Thompson’s split went live, Netflix gifted us with the trailer for the highly-anticipated special, which catches up with season two’s couples.
Contestant Shayne Jansen, who experienced a whirlwind pod romance with Natalie Lee which did not end in marriage, opens the trailer by saying “Love is the hardest, best thing that will ever happen,” while footage of Lee wiping away tears can be seen.
Various cast members can be heard and seen revealing hot pieces of gossip about their co-stars, including the ‘are they or aren’t they’ romance between Deepti Vempati and Kyle Abrams.
Shaina Hurley can also be seen talking to Jansen, who she had shared a brief flirtation with in the pods, about Lee, claiming Jansen’s ex-fiancee is “still trying to tear [Hurley] down” while Hurley insists she has “done nothing to [Lee.]”
Abrams can also be seen claiming Lee “can be an instigator” while cameras aren’t running.
Lee, for her part, can be seen telling the camera she “needs to tell [her] truth.” What’s going on?!?
In the words of season one’s Gianina Gibelli as she commented on the series’ reel of the trailer on Instagram, “Oof.”
What Are Fans Saying?
The trailer for “Love Is Blind: After The Altar” isn’t the only drama-filled aspect on fans’ minds!
The series subreddit was alive with fan reactions and chatter about the trailer, with some fans speculating about the timing of the trailer’s release in the wake of two season two couples getting divorced.
Reddit user, energeticzebra, wrote “Perfect timing. I guarantee the couples weren’t allowed to file or announce divorce plans until the special was ready to be promoted. The new episode will probably cover what happened and give each couple a chance to explain themselves/save face.”
Another Reddit user by the name of Glittering_Star_1313 weighed in, “With the divorce announcements, it just seems kind of foolish to have an After The Altar special for this season,” before adding, “This cast is so fake… Time to just move on and completely forget this cast/season.”
“Love Is Blind: After The Altar” will be released on September 16th!
