Paul’s first assignment as champion will be either fan favourite Kevin Owens or Santos Escobar, who will duke it out at SmackDown New Year’s Revolution on January 5.

The Maverick intends to run through either man, so much so he believes victory over them will spark a new dawn in the sport.

He said on his YouTube channel: “If you’ve followed my journey for ten years now on the Internet, I don’t just do things to take part.

“I do them to take over. And I fully plan on doing that with the WWE.

“The future is bright, and I am going to make a lot of noise and disrupt the entire industry.”

Paul, 28, has already made waves in wrestling‘s top promotion, much to the surprise of many.

The social media sensation has taken to WWE theatrics like a duck to water, pulling off some incredible and viral moves along the way.

His spectacular midair collision with Ricochet at this year’s Royal Rumble is chief among his proudest moments.

He said: “I was really proud of this move because it’s hard to do something original in the WWE.

“And some of the moments I’ve had this year in wrestling, I will remember for the rest of my life.”

The achievement Paul is most proud of, however, is avoiding the wear and tear that has ravaged wrestlers of yesteryear.

“This is actually my greatest accomplishment of this year,” he said. “I went injury-free.

“But I did get close to almost breaking my neck at Money in the Bank.

“Look, accidents happen, like when I almost broke Rey Mysterio’s neck, but then saved him.”
