D1 gymnast Olivia ‘Livvy’ Dunne claims she put in an offer for Babe Ruth’s iconic New York City apartment, but says other tenants in the building didn’t want her living there.
Livvy Dunne is one part world-famous athlete and another part internet icon, boasting millions of avid followers across multiple social media platforms.
In fact, she’s so popular that she couldn’t attend her college classes on campus and was forced to amp up security after overeager fans caused chaos at her gymnastics competitions.
She was even listed at fifth place in TIME’s first-ever list of Top 100 influencers… but her popularity may have made her a bad fit for her dream home.
Dunne says she can’t attend classes in-person due to safety reasons.
Livvy Dunne denied purchase of Babe Ruth’s $1.5M apartment
On July 8, 2025, Dunne posted a video to TikTok explaining she was “so upset” that she wasn’t able to buy American baseball legend Babe Ruth’s famous apartment in Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
The seventh-floor flat was first listed for sale in April 2025 at a $1.59 million pricepoint, with three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms.
While Dunne was ready and able to pay for the apartment in cash, she says the apartment complex’s co-op — the group of residents who own shares in the building — weren’t keen on having her as a neighbor.
“I wanted this apartment bad,” she admitted. “It got to the point where the realtor was so confident. Paul [Livvy’s MLB boyfriend] and I went, we got an interior designer… then the week I’m supposed to get my keys to my brand-new apartment, I get a call.
“The co-op board denied me. So pretty much, the people in the building voted to not have me live there, which is fine, honestly. For all I know, they could have been Alabama fans, and I went to LSU.”
While she understood that it’s possible the residents didn’t want a “public figure” living in their complex due to possible issues with fans and stalkers, Dunne warned viewers against living in a co-op, as they might get denied last-minute like she did.
Commenters, however, are singing a different tune. “They didn’t want a celebrity. It had nothing to do with LSU,” one wrote.
“Babe Ruth on ‘the other side’ watching a 22yo influencer sign a contract on his old apartment,” another said.
“First world problems at its finest,” another penned.
Luckily for Dunne, she reportedly earned around $9M during her time competing at LSU, so she’s got plenty of cheddar for another pad — it just won’t be Babe Ruth’s historic home.
