Dave Burd, better known as Lil Dicky, was the latest guest on Travis and Jason Kelce’s show and during the appearance he told a story for the first time about his ‘Welcome to Hollywood’ moment.
I had some tiny hand in helping Lil Dicky go viral way back when he got his first 1 million views on YouTube after I posted his ‘Ex-Boyfriend’ video to Reddit and wrote about it here on BroBible after my wife, who went to college with Dave in Richmond and was Facebook friends with him, sent me the video in the middle of a slow work day. And it’s been wild to see his insane success over the years with Dave and other projects, but I digress.
On the latest episode of New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce (Presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment), Lil Dicky tells Jason and Travis Kelce about his ‘Welcome to Hollywood’ moment which came during a celebrity basketball game with Chris Brown. He said the lineup was people like Snoop Dogg, Floyd Mayweather, and other A-List stars and he was barely on the cusp of being famous yet.
So his plan was to get out there and score 30 points and make a name for himself so he got there early to warmup. Thats’ when Chris Brown walked in. Here’s Dave Burd telling his story:
That’s how ‘Freaky Friday’ came about. But everything about that story is incredible. He was this lanky/small dude in a game full of professional athletes and it showed. But he has such a knack for telling this story.
Lil Dicky was a pretty excellent guest on this episode. He has a way of making everything conversational. Burd also made sure to talk to Travis about life after he’s started dating Taylor Swift.
Dave said Travis dating Taylor Swift has somehow made the world feel like we’re all back in high school where the most popular girl in school is dating the most popular jock. He said anyone hating on Travis Kelce dating Taylor Swift is nothing but a hater. He also reiterated that “there’s something so American” about the relationship which really is a unique perspective on it.
