Lexie Hull is a professional basketball player. She currently plays for the Indiana Fever. Hull and her teammate, Caitlin Clark, enjoyed a day by the water recently. Katie Lou Samulson shared a photo on an Instagram story of the two on a raft. Both posed in swimsuits. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Lexie Hull stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.
Basketball is one of the things that Hull does to keep herself in shape. Fitness Advisory reports that the sport has a lot of benefits. “The objective of a basketball game is to score as many points as you can by getting the ball through the hoop of the opposing team. So far that sounds pretty simple. But along the way you’re burning calories and building skills – hand-eye coordination is just one. Catching rebounding missed shots is another skill that requires a great degree of full-body coordination, since you have to observe the ball and jump to grab it at the right moment. Dribbling, another basic basketball skill, allows you to train your motor skills. Once you’ve mastered hand-eye coordination, you’ll no longer have to look at the ball while dribbling it.”
In an interview with The Spokesman Review, Hull said that she tries to be prepared for the basketball season. “Yeah, it’s a long season. The games go up and down. We’re playing well or we’re not playing well, so it’s just figuring out where you can make an impact and staying ready as much as I can. I feel like that’s what I’ve been doing this season and trying to be as prepared as I can be.”
Hull likes to play pickleball to keep herself in shape. She shared this video of herself on the court on Instagram. Hull captioned the post, “I can see what the hype’s all about.” The Cleveland Clinic reports that pickleball has a lot of benefits. “Current physical activity guidelines for adults recommend at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week. Moderate intensity means you’re at about 50% of your maximum effort. Pickleball can help you meet these guidelines. One study of adults over the age of 50 found that more than 70% of their playing time was in the moderate to vigorous heart rate zone.”
Hull spends a lot of time outside. One thing she likes to do is go for hikes. Hull shared these photos and videos on Instagram of herself and partner, baseball player Will Mattheissen, hiking in Zion. Harvard Health states that hiking has a lot of benefits. “Like brisk walking, hiking is a good way to improve your cardiovascular fitness, particularly if your route includes some hills, which will force your heart to work harder. Taking a hike on the slightly uneven surface of a trail also provides a natural way to engage the core muscles in your torso and to hone your balance skills.”
Indiana Fever coach, Christie Slides, praised Hull’s consistency in the same Spokesman Review article. “She’s just consistent with her effort. She’s always just active. That’s a trait of hers that is so good in basketball. She just never stops. She’s going to get deflections. She’s going to get steals. She’s going to draw the best defender and she’s just consistent with her role. I know she didn’t get the playing time that she wanted earlier (in the season), but she just kept working and kept working. And then when her number was called, she’s just been really big for us.”
