On Thursday’s ‘Real Housewives of Miami’ reunion, Larsa Pippen revealed her 15-year-old daughter receives a massive $2,500 monthly allowance.
Scottie Pippen’s ex-wife who recently split with Marcus Jordan, the son of Scottie’s nemesis, caught heat from fans after revealing her 15-year-old daughter gets a $2,500/month allowance.
Footage from the Bravo broadcast appeared on various celebrity-focused media outlets. TMZ shared the clip (below) and it starts with Andy Cohen reading a response to Larsa Pippen that a fan had written in regarding Larsa’s daughter and her exorbitant allowance. Here’s the clip:
In defense of the allowance and her daughter, Larsa Pippen said “You guys understand, like, LA is super expensive. So, like, after school, she orders food or Uber or, like, you know, buys presents for her friends’ birthdays.” She also went on to discuss how her 15-year-old daughter makes money of her own and this allowance is on top of the money her daughter earns through partnerships with fashion labels.
Larsa’s RHOM co-star Adriana de Moura defended it as well, saying “I think that one thing we can all say, you know, about Larsa, she can have many faults, but she’s a good mom, you know?”
Is $2,500 A Crazy Allowance For Larsa Pippen’s Daughter?
For those of us who live in the normal world and haven’t been famous forever and married to an NBA legend… Yes, $2,500 a month is an insane monthly allowance.
However, Larsa Pippen has been very rich for a long time. The mother of 4 has an estimated net worth of $10 million. She as married to Scottie Pippen who earned $100M in his career and through sponsorships but is believed to have around $20M of that left. Suffice it to say, Larsa and Scottie Pippen’s kids grew up wealthy.
Is $2,500 a lot for a 15-year-old? Absolutely. But as Larsa said, Los Angeles is expensive. Those of us not living in LaLa Land cannot comprehend what life is like for the daughter of wealthy celebrities in Los Angeles. It certainly requires a lot of money keeping up with the Joneses. Would I ever give my son a $2,500/month allowance at 15-years-old? Definitely not. But I’m not a celebrity on the Real Housewives of Miami.
Of course, people on social media had a lot of thoughts about Larsa Pippen’s daughter’s $2,500 allowance. And Larsa herself decided to take this public so you can’t fault people for weighing in on it.
The story briefly began trending on X, formerly Twitter, as people shared news of Larsa doubling down on her daughter’s allowance. Others had a lot to say about Larsa’s OF posting. At least one person on X claimed they have no problem with a rich person giving their kids $2,500 allowance.
Is this normal for celebrities?
Yes and no. The celebs paying their children the most in allowance almost certainly want to keep that under wraps for fear of facing bad PR as being out-of-touch.
And the celebrities who don’t give their children thousands have no problem with that being in the news. Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay (est $63M net worth) recently told PEOPLE he gives each of his children an allowance of “a couple hundred dollars” but if his kids save that up he matches their savings at Christmas as a way to incentivize them to save.
