Remember Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Devlin ‘Duck’ Hodges — who started in six games for the iconic NFL franchise during his rookie season in 2019? He just got engaged to Lainey Wilson, one of the biggest country music stars in the world.

Lainey Wilson, 32 years old, first broke out in 2020 with the release of her single “Things a Man Oughta Know.” She has released five albums during her career, with her 2024 album Whirlwind being nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Country Album. Wilson has also had a role as Abby on the hit series Yellowstone.

On her Instagram account, where she has over three million followers, Wilson shared a series of photos from the proposal — those photos were professionally taken, however, so we cannot embed them here because photographers are a famously litigious bunch (that’s a little Inside Baseball for ya). Wilson and Hodges first confirmed they were dating in May 2023.

During his rookie season in 2019, Hodges started in six games for the Steelers, winning three and losing three. He completed 100 of his 160 attempts (62.5%) for 1,063 yards, five touchowns, and eight interceptions.

After starting a handful of games for the Steelers are a rookie, Hodges was cut prior to the start of the following season. In January 2021, Hodges briefly resurfaced, signing a reserve/future contract with the Los Angeles Rams. Hodge was ultimately cut by the Rams that August.

After crashing out of the NFL, Hodges signed a three-year contract with the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League. He ultimately started in just four games for the team, completing just 16 of 38 passes for 139 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception. The following spring, he officially retired from professional football.
