MANILA, Philippines – Kim Chiu said she’s “beyond grateful” to be one of the celebrities recognized in the Seoul International Drama Awards 2024. 

Wearing an asymmetric peach gown with high slit by Francis Libiran, the actress received her Most Outstanding Asian Award during the ceremony held at KBS Hall in Seoul on Wednesday, September 25. She was recognized for her role as Juliana Lualhati in the ABS-CBN drama series Linlang.

“I’m in absolute disbelief and beyond grateful to attend this kind of international award-giving body. It feels surreal, like a dream I haven’t quite woken up from,” Kim wrote in an Instagram post. 

“I want to extend my deepest thanks to everyone who believed in me, supported me, and helped make this possible. This moment is something I will cherish forever,” she added. 

During her acceptance speech, the actress also got emotional as she expressed her gratitude to the key figures who helped her in her almost two-decade showbiz career. 

“I am truly overwhelmed to be standing here tonight. With pride and honor, I want to express my gratitude to these incredible people who made this moment possible,” she began her speech. 

Aside from thanking ABS-CBN, Dreamscape Entertainment, the staff of Linlang, and the late Deo Endrinal, she also gave a shoutout to her legion of supporters. “This award is also for you. Your unconditional love, efforts, and belief in me have always been my source of strength. And for that, I am truly grateful,” she said. 

 “To Seoul Drama International Awards, thank you for this recognition. This is a dream come true for me,” Kim ended her speech. 

While Kim was the sole recipient of the Outstanding Asian Award from the Philippines, the organization also gave the same title to Byeon Woo-seo and Kim Hye-yoon of South Korea, Win Metawin of Thailand, Siti Saleha of Malaysia, Desmond Tan of Singapore, and Ochi Rosdiana of Indonesia. 

Kim is the latest celebrity from the Philippines to win the award. Gabby Concepcion, Dennis TrilloAlden RichardsDingdong Dantes, and Belle Mariano previously received the recognition. 

Prior to the Seoul Drama International Awards, Kim also won the Best Female Lead in a TV Program/Series award during the Content Asia Awards in Taipei, Taiwan for her performance in Linlang. 

Kim entered showbiz after winning the first season of Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition in 2006. She’s known for her roles in teleseryes Sana Maulit, My Binondo Girl, Ina, Kapatid, Anak, Love Thy Woman, and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim, among others.
