Kapamilya actor Piolo Pascual on Wednesday made known his thoughts about killing, a prominent subject in his drama series “Flower of Evil,” saying taking another person’s life, in whatever form and for whatever reason, is unjustifiable.

“You can never justify that. I mean, when I was watching the last episode last week, sabi ko wala namang ginawa ito kundi patayan nang patayan (I said there is nothing going here but killing and killing). It is so stressful,” he said when asked when is killing justifiable during the finale mediacon for “Flower of Evil”. Pascual plays husband to Lovi Poe who secretly hid his killer persona.

“I don’t want to be in that position where in I would contemplate on killing somebody. I would never go that far and I would not even justify that,” he further explained.

Pascual got out of his comfort zone in the series which somewhat achieved his goal to do out-of-the-box roles.

“It was actually hard to veer away from your style and sa nakasanayan mo na (to what you’re used to) because meron kang hindi naman necessarily kinokopya but meron kang napanood na (you have not necessarily copying but you’ve watched something) and there’s just too much expectation,” he said.

Since the series is an adaptation of a Korean drama, what Pascual wanted wanted to achieve was to give it a different approach.

“As an actor, I think it was hard for me because ang galing ng Korean version, eh (the Korean version was great) So, parang coming into the show and having Lovi (Poe) and Pau (Paulo Avelino), nakita ko ‘yung (effort) na nag-explore pa sila (I saw that they made an effort to explore) so that actually helped me,” he explained.

“In terms of what I achieved, I live in the present. When I was doing it, I didn’t just wanna wing it but I wanted to do it the right way,” he said, always communicating with his two directors to discuss every scene.

Pascual hoped that he’s given justice to what was given him. What he was most thankful for was the experience of doing something like “Flower of Evil” which he believed was able to elevate the content of Pinoy series.

“Gusto ko lang makapagtrabaho and gumawa ng isang magandang proyekto and nabiyayaan tayo ng “Flower of Evil” na nagustuhan ng mga tao. ‘Yun lang po ay malaking achievement na iyon,” he said. (I just want to work and do a beautiful project and we were blessed with “Flower of Evil which the people liked. That was already a big achievement,” he said.

As to his character Daniel, Pascual has this to say: “Okay ka na. (You’re okay) Everything is better, everything is fine. You can have a normal life again.”
