Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner have settled their divorce and reached an agreement about child support payments — a major bone of contention during the proceeding.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the “Yellowstone” actor was ordered to pay over $63,000 a month to Baumgartner in child support payments for their three minor children.
Kevin Costner & Christine Baumgartner Finally Settle Divorce
After ten months, Costner and Baumgartner have said goodbye to their nasty divorce battle. The ex-lovers were officially declared single as of February 16, 2024, and reached an agreement about spousal support, property division, and attorney fees.
As for the custody of their three kids — Cayden Wyatt Costner, Hayes Logan Costner, and Grace Avery Costner — both parties were awarded joint and physical custody. “The Parties shall have physical custody of the children according to the visitation schedule set forth in Section 3 of the February 2, 2024 Marital Settlement Agreement,” the document reads.
However, Costner alone will bear the brunt of the child support payments for each kid. As stated in the filing, “The Bodyguard” actor will shell out $63,209 monthly to his ex-wife, payable on the first of every month. A breakdown of the payment reveals that the eldest child, Cayden 17, will receive $12, 642 per month.
15-year-old Hayes will get a payment of $18,962 monthly while Grace Avery, 14, will receive a payment that is twice that of her two siblings in the amount of $31,605. In addition, Costner will provide health insurance coverage to his kids.
While $63,000 is still a lot of money, it is a far cry from Baumgartner’s initial request of $175,057 per month in child support, resulting in $2 million annually. In the filing, the handbag designer argued that “the court is required to set child support at a level that, when the children are with Christine, they live a lifestyle relatively comparable to the one they enjoy when they are with their father.”
Her attorneys further noted, “The guideline child support requested by Christine of $175,057 per month will not be sufficient to replicate Kevin’s lifestyle, but it will be sufficient to allow her to provide a lifestyle for the children which is relatively comparable. For this reason, Christine’s request should be granted.”
Details about the child support payment come days after the former couple agreed to skip co-parenting classes as part of their custody agreement. The duo noted they had reached a private agreement, with the court document stating:
“IT IS STIPULATED by and between the parties, Petitioner, Christine Costner, and Respondent, Kevin Costner, that the parties be excused from, and the Court waive the necessity of them completing the Parent Education and Co-Parenting Effectively ‘P.E.A.C.E.’ class.”
The statement continued, “This stipulation is entered into based on the following: The Parties have settled their dissolution proceeding and entered into a signed written Marital Settlement Agreement resolving this matter.”
Costner & Baumgartner explained that they made the joint request to prevent further delays and the frustration of waiting for it to end.
Kevin Costner is Obsessed With New Girlfriend’s Talent
Costner’s new single status bodes well for his rumored new relationship with singer Jewel. The pair became an item on the heels of the veteran actor’s divorce from Baumgartner.
Per reports, Costner and Jewel’s bond is growing stronger than ever thanks to their shared passion for music. According to a source, the new lovers are said to be making music together, which has afforded them more quality time.
“Kevin and Jewel are deepening their connection through shared musical endeavors,” the insider said, per the National Enquirer. “Their relationship has evolved into a harmonious collaboration, with the two of them spending quality time together.”
The source then concluded, “He’s obsessed with her and her talent. Music is Kevin’s real passion, not film. As long as Jewel keeps playing that guitar, Kevin will keep following her around!”
