Katy Perry will release a new album, 143, on September 20 via Capitol. It will mark the pop artist’s first studio album since August 2020’s Smile. In a press statement about her new album, Perry said, “I set out to create a bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expression of love as a throughline message.” See the album’s cover below.
The lead single from 143, “Woman’s World,” is out tomorrow (July 11). Perry co-wrote the song with songwriter Chloe Angelides and producers Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald, Vaughn Oliver, Rocco Did It Again!, and Aaron Joseph.
Perry made some of her biggest songs—such as “I Kissed a Girl,” “Hot n Cold,” “Teenage Dream,” “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” “California Gurls,” and “Roar”—with Dr. Luke, but did not work with him on Smile or 2017’s Witness, following allegations that he sexually assaulted Kesha. The producer denied Kesha’s allegations, and he and the singer settled their long-running legal battle last year.
