Kane Brown Reveals How He Cuts Through Multiple Music Genres

Kane Brown Tour The High Road

Kane Brown does not mess around when it comes to life on the road. The Nashville-based country music artist recently partnered with Coleman to take sure his ‘The High Road’ tour to the next level.

I can attest. It is a concert you don’t want to miss!

Although Brown grew up listening to more traditional country music, he was introduced to a mix of different artists from ACDC to Chris Brown to Radiohead by nature of how many times he moved. Someone was always playing something new, somewhere new, which allowed him to expand his horizons.

Brown ultimately found his passion for performing in middle school after winning a talent show with a cover of ‘Gettin’ You Home’ by Chris Young. He started posting covers on social media around 2014. RCA Nashville signed him not long thereafter and then really burst onto the scene with his self-titled debut album in 2016. His ability to cross over multiple genres sent him straight to the top of the charts!

Now almost 10 years later, Brown has a completely different perspective on life, music, business and everything in between. He married his wife, Katelyn, in 2018. They have three children together.

She joins him on stage at every night of The High Road tour and his favorite part of the show is when she cat walks off. Hate to see her go, love to watch her leave— that kind of thing.

Even though their world(s) looks different today than they did a decade ago, there is nothing that can stop them from their dreams. There is no room to slow down. Foot stays on the gas.

I’ve always been into sports and I have an athlete’s mentality. I just can’t quit. That’s my fuel.

The High Road, which dropped at the end of January, is loosely based on Brown’s day-to-day. Each track tells a story. It incorporates a heavy dose of family values and love into honest conversations about self-doubt and mental health. Combined with plenty of rip-roaring, toe-tapping fun, there is a little bit of something for everyone! The same can be said for the corresponding tour.

I don’t always realize how much I impact my fans’ lives. I think it’s crazy when they tell me that, honestly.

That keeps me going, just to realize how many people actually care and listen to what I do.

‘Miles On It’ is the smash hit from this latest album. It brings DJ Marshmello and electronic dance music into the country music mix.

Khalid joins Brown on ‘Rescue’ to create a melting pot of R&B and pop with a touch of twang.

‘Things We Quit’ featuring Brad Paisley is quintessential kuntri with a k.

Brown brought out a few special guests to perform with him on stage at Bridgestone Arena, including Lauren Alaina. Scott McCreary was a great opener. Dasha showed me vocals I admittedly didn’t know she had. The set design was also a huge part of the show, including pyrotechnics.

Brown also introduced a unique partnership with Coleman. It is the first of its kind!

Kane Brown and Coleman are a perfect match.

The legendary outdoors and lifestyle brand brought Brown on as its first official ambassador in the music space earlier this year because of his passion for adventure. It all started with some tequila.

I always have a solo cup with me on stage, first of all. So when I looked at pictures from my shows, I felt like they could look a little better. Coleman helped me out with that.

I have a nice new cup to keep my drink cool while I’m on stage!

The Coleman cup recently made its Nashville debut!

Whether he is kicking back with a cold one at a tailgate, sitting in the duck blind with his eyes on a big mallard, or laying out under the stars, Kane Brown is always up to something. So is Coleman. Thus, it was a no-brainer for them to join forces.

Coleman is a cool family brand. It just fits. Their products and my lifestyle have a lot of overlap. The same goes for my fans.

I’m always riding my side-by-sides, four-wheelers, hunting. Part of the brand is a part of me!

As part of this partnership, Coleman joined The High Road tour as an official sponsor. They even worked together to customize a luxury suite at Bridgestone Arena.

I was blown away by the attention to detail!

As cool as it is to have Coleman with him on tour, Brown is even more excited for what is to come. He will have a direct and integral role in shaping new product lines for the brand moving forward.

Coleman wants to know his thoughts on future innovations and they are also working together on some pretty cool events. Stay tuned.

I can’t share the full details yet, but we’re going to collab on a tailgate in the near future.

Sponsorship aside, Coleman allowed Brown to stay true to who he is. That is the biggest thing.

Kane Brown wants to be himself.

Not only did Brown pioneer a new kind of brand relationship with Coleman, he continues to break the mold in terms of his sound. His music bends the formally rigid line between country and not with the to reach a much larger audience.

Everybody loves different genres of music, but they feel like if you do one genre, you gotta be stuck there. That’s what we’ve always tried to get past. It doesn’t have to be that way.

— Kane Brown

If we’re being honest, there is a lot of country music on the radio today that does share a lot of the same qualities both in terms of melody and lyrics. (There was just a whole mixup with Nate Smith and HARDY very recently!)

Brown wants to be the zig to everybody else’s zag. Or perhaps he is the zag to the zig. Who am I to put a label on him??

I just do my thing. It’s really just being you, not caring what other people think and just doing it. I’m just being me. Country music is massive right now and everybody wants to be in it.

This is the best place country music has been for awhile […] We all get to explore different routes and see what country music can be and how big it can get!

— Kane Brown

When it comes to his legacy, Brown hopes that he did (and does) enough to be remembered. He wants kids 30, 40 even 50+ years from now to grow up listening to his music like he did with artists like Randy Travis and Keith Whitley.

I overlook a lot of the stuff that I go through, and when I say go through, I mean like when I walk into a random gym and my music is playing. I’m the type of guy that’s like, “oh somebody noticed me and they’re playing my music. That’s cool!” I don’t ever think of it being on a playlist.

At the end of the day, I hope that people are still playing my music.

— Kane Brown

There is still a lot of career left for Kane Brown, God willing. Taking an athlete’s mentality and passion for life into every single day, he does not plan to slow down any time soon. Having his family and Coleman at his side certainly helps. The hits keep coming!
