Kai Cenat has claimed that he turned down multiple offers from streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime to host his Streamer University over there.
Back in February, Kai Cenat revealed he had plans to help some burgeoning content creators with a Streamer University. The AMP star made that idea a reality in May, with 150 creators heading to the University of Akron for a few days of classes and interaction.
Streamer University was immediately popular. Kai’s opening stream had over 600,000 viewers, while the category itself jumped up to become the second most-popular topic on Twitch after it started.
A number of streamers, including DDG, were live on Twitch for the full length of the event, but Kai has revealed that he had offers to host it away from the Amazon-owned platform in the first place.
Kai Cenat turned down Netflix for Streamer University
“A lot of people been talking about how this s*it should be on Netflix or Amazon Prime should buy this, Tubi should buy it, somebody higher and they do it crazy. We already been getting talks with different people,” he said.
“With an idea like this, so original, you gotta keep it where it’s at. You want to know why? Y’all channels, and who y’all are as a person. This is y’all idea and your guys’ stuff, you feel me? Treat your platform as you would treat other platforms.”
The streaming star also said that he views good content on Twitch as a reward for those viewers who subscribe.
Some fans suggested that a behind-the-scenes type series would work better on a streaming service, rather than making streamer put their live content on there.
“Look at NFL’s hard knocks, something like that would be fire,” one said. “He gotta put it on Netflix like the sidemen did,” another added.
Kai suggested that he wouldn’t do a second installment of Streamer University due to hate. However, the success may have outweighed that and he does own the IP for it.
