Jon Favreau, the guy behind Iron Man in 2008, spilled the beans to People magazine that he threw in some of the actors’ real-life chats into the Marvel flick.

That’s why Tony Stark and Pepper Potts’ vibe felt so legit. He’d scribble down whatever they said, whether they were just riffing or discussing a scene. Favreau said in the interview., Favreau recalls this one time when Gwyneth Paltrow schooled Robert Downey Jr.

They were reviewing the script, which mentioned, “This looks like Jackson Pollock’s spring period.” But Gwyneth Paltrow corrected both Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. during rehearsal. She was like, ”No, it’s The Springs period. The Springs is the part of the Hamptons where Jackson Pollock lived and worked, not spring, not the season.” Favreau took great care to record every word, and in the film, Gwyneth corrects Robert’s mention of “the spring period.”

This interaction adds depth to their playful exchanges. Favreau found it engaging and delightful to observe their on-screen chemistry, as their banter had a distinct edge to it., So, the 2008 flick “Iron Man” kicked off the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe craze and made Downey a big shot in Hollywood.

They both kept returning to play their parts in more “Iron Man” movies and other Marvel stuff until they wrapped up in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in 2019.
