SIR John Major says the new series of The Crown is “a barrel-load of nonsense”.
The ex-PM spoke of his fears the “damaging and malicious fiction” could unfairly harm the reputation of King Charles.
Imagined conversations between the ex-Tory leader, the Queen, and the then-Prince of Wales are set to feature in the new series, released on Netflix next month.
In a statement, a spokesman for Sir John said: “Sir John has not cooperated in any way with The Crown.
“Discussions between the Monarch and Prime Minister are entirely private and, for Sir John, will always remain so.”
There are rumours one plot line sees Prince Charles ask the PM for his support for the Queen’s abdication.
A second plot line is said to imagine Sir John making disparaging comments about the Queen and Royal Family.
His spokesman said: “There was never any discussion about any possible abdication.”
The spokesman added Sir John had never discussed the royals in disparaging terms.
Netflix previously stated The Crown is a drama and not a documentary.
