Podcaster Joe Rogan has weighed in on actress and pop star Jennifer Lopez getting divorced from her husband Ben Affleck earlier this year. Lopez’s split from Affleck is the fourth time she’s gotten divorced, having previously ended marriages with Ojani Noa, Criss Judd, and Marc Anthony. She was also previously engaged to former MLB star Alex Rodriguez.
Joe Rogan was discussing the public obsession with celebrity couples and theorized that they like seeing them split up because people want confirmation that they’re “miserable too” when he pivoted to Lopez’s relationship history.
According to Rogan, it’s clear that Lopez — who filed for divorce from Affleck on August 20 — is a “diva” and “a lot of work.”
“[People] love it when celebrities get divorced: ‘Haha, you’re miserable, too.’ I find it fascinating when people keep getting married and keep getting divorced. God damn, how many times can J.Lo get married before the next guy’s like, ‘Hey, I don’t know if this is going to work out,’” he said on the November 13 episode of The Joe Rogan Experience.
“She married a bunch of dudes. But, you know, whatever. She’s obviously a lot of work…You want a diva? Good luck. That requires a lot of work.”
Lopez and Affleck officially filed for divorce in August after a little over two years of marriage. Affleck had previously expressed something similar to what Rogan is talking about, detailing the added anxiety and attention that comes with Lopez’s level of fame.
Despite their divorce, Affleck and Lopez remain intertwined professionally as Affleck’s company produced her upcoming film Unstoppable, a biopic about one-legged former NCAA champion wrestler Anthony Robles, that releases on Prime Video in January. Lopez, who plays Robles’ mother in Unstoppable, stars in the film alongside Jharrel Jerome, Don Cheadle, Bobby Cannavale, and Michael Pena.
