Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are reportedly going to split up for a second time.
According to a recent report from In Touch, Lopez and Affleck are headed for divorce, and “for once, Ben’s not to blame.”
Affleck and Lopez originally dated from 2002 to 2004 before rekindling their relationship in 2021 and getting married in the summer of 2022. Not even two years after their marriage, however, sources say it’s coming to an end.
“The writing is on the wall – it’s over,” the source told In Touch. “They’re headed for a divorce – and for once, [Ben’s] not to blame!”
“He’s focusing on his work and his kids now,” the insider added. “Ben already moved out and they’ll likely have to sell the dream house they spent two years searching for. They’ll never stop loving each other, but she can’t control him, and he can’t change her. There’s no way it could have lasted.”
One of the alleged reasons that the pair parted ways two decades ago was that Affleck was uncomfortable with the media attention and scrutiny the pair received is reportedly part of why their relationship is breaking down this time, too.
“An ongoing problem in the pair’s relationship was the different ways they handled the spotlight, with Jennifer embracing media attention and Ben shying away from it,” In Touch reports.
If Lopez and Affleck do divorce it will mark another difficult set back for Lopez this year, as the pop star and actress is still reeling from poor reviews of her newest album and having to cancel tour dates due to low ticket sales. Her general popularity has also taken a hit, with a public relations expert saying that the “backlash against her has been bundling for a while.”
That expert also says that Affleck’s constantly looking miserable around Lopez could be contributing to her waning popularity.
“In the shadow of beloved and long suffering Jennifer Garner, much of the imagery we have seen from J Lo has been mundane – car rides with Ben, curb side arguments, fast food takeaways. Often looking miserable. This has shattered the fourth wall, one which we’d all bought into,” said Emily Austen, head of the PR agency Emerge.
If Lopez and Affleck do get divorced, things could become quite awkward on the set of her new movie Unstoppable (about wrestler Anthony Robles) as Affleck and the Artists Equity company that he co-founded with his buddy Matt Damon are the producers of the film.
