Jennie Garth in Workout Gear is "Fit at 50" Doing Full-Body Workout

Jennie Garth is working out with her daughter Lola – in her exercise gear. In a new social media post the Beverly Hills, 90210 star flaunts her fit at 50 figure during an intense strength training session. “Who needs some motivation today? I know I did this morning! My daughter, Lola, joined me… Do you think she’s still sure I should be working out at 7am? 🤣Jokes aside, I’m so happy I got this workout in. It’s my favorite way to re-energize during the week💕What’s your fav time of day to workout?” she captioned the post.

Jennie tries to fill her diet with produce. “My diet is in large part plant-based,” Garth told The Beet. “I load up on berries, vegetables and lots of salad.”

Garth explained exactly what she eats in a day to The Beet. “I eat oats in almond milk, and add almond slivers, blueberries, strawberries, chia seeds on top. But I eat the oats right after I pour the oat milk on them, even before they are softened. I love the crunch of it,” she said about her breakfast. For lunch she usually has a salad. “On a day when I am eating well, everything I can find goes into my salad: Avocado, tomatoes, nuts, and for sweetness, I like to add green apple into the mix,” she said. And, for dinner? “We love Mexican food in our house, and though it’s not the healthiest, you can make a taco with lots of vegetables. I love the vegan cheese, and I’ll make a tortilla with vegan cheese, like Daiya, which is my current favorite!”

Jennie does “a lot of stretching,” she told The Beet. “Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints,” says Harvard Health. “Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way. That puts you at risk for joint pain, strains, and muscle damage.”

Jennie is also a golfer. “I also love to get outside any chance I get, and right now I am into golf!” Garth told The Beet. “It’s a great activity both mentally and physically because you can walk the course. It keeps me sharp too since you really have to focus. But mostly I love it because it’s a way to spend time in nature and see beautiful vistas and trees. And there is a lot of walking involved!” A comprehensive review published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that golf’s health benefits are extensive, including mind, body, and even lifespan. Benefits include improved longevity, decreased risk of developing heart disease or suffering a stroke, good mental health, and improved strength and balance.

In her recent post, Jennie does a number of strength training exercises. They included lunges, dips, rows, and a number of arm weight exercises. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills
