At this point, it feels like James Corden is *trying* to make American pop culture fans hate him. After a couple of stories about him allegedly being a jerk to restaurant employees hit the internet earlier this week, the outgoing host of The Late Late Show has responded to those reports in perhaps the worst way possible.
Sitting down for an interview with The New York Times, Corden was basically aghast that interviewer David Itzkoff would even bring these recent stories up.
James Corden addresses reports that he’s frequently a jerk to service industry employees during a recent interview with the New York Times
“I haven’t done anything wrong, on any level,” Corden said. “So why would I ever cancel this [interview]?”
“I was there. I get it. I feel so Zen about the whole thing. Because I think it’s so silly. I just think it’s beneath all of us. It’s beneath you. It’s certainly beneath your publication.” So… add “New York Times reporters” to the list of people Corden doesn’t seem to have much respect for (alongside flight attendants, and his wife).” [via The New York Times]
Luckily for all of us, Corden is stepping down as host of CBS’ The Late Late Show next Spring, which hopefully means he’ll be further removed from the public eye and we won’t have to hear from him all that much anymore. That’s probably wishful thinking, though. The 44-year-old Corden has been hosting The Late Late Show since 2015.
