Jake Paul finally set to fight ex-world champ in 2025 boxing return

Jake Paul is set to make his return to the boxing ring this summer as he finally gets his long-awaited fight with a former world champion.

When Jake Paul first stepped into the boxing world, he was focused on fights with former influencers and athletes crossing over from other sports. However, in the last two years, he has focused more on professional boxers.

The ‘Problem Child’ has scored wins over Andre August, Ryan Borland, and Mike Tyson since that switch in focus. His end goal is to win a world championship and was reportedly supposed to fight Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in his annual Cinco De Mayo weekend fight.

That fight was scrapped at the last minute as the Mexican superstar signed a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season. Jake has been looking for another boxer to fight and he has seemingly found one.

Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. happening “this summer”

As per a report from The Ring Magazine and Mike Coppinger, the YouTuber-turned-boxer is set to take on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a middleweight clash this summer.

Chavez Jr., 39, held the WBC middleweight title between 2011 and 2012, losing to Sergio Martinez in September 2012. He is a name that is familiar to Jake, having fought on the undercard of his bout with ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry.

The pair have long been rumored to meet each other in the ring, given that the Mexican fights Jake’s criteria of being a longtime boxer and has world title credentials.

As for when that fight might happen, Coppinger has not reported a concrete date. He only states that it will happen “this summer” and nothing else.

Additionally, the fight wouldn’t be broadcast by Netflix. The streaming service did host Jake’s fight with Tyson and was rumored to be behind his proposed clash with Canelo. However, it appears they have bowed out for this one.

Jake had been reportedly switching his focus to MMA following that win over Tyson as he is still yet to make his debut with the PFL. That would also be delayed again if he fights Chavez Jr.
