Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence suffered a brutal head injury on a hit from Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair during the Sunday (December 1) game, and now, he’s speaking out.
The 25-year-old quarterback was running for yards and sliding to end the play. When a quarterback slides – thus, ending the play, opposing defensive players are no longer supposed to try and tackle the QB.
When Trevor was sliding, Azeez Al-Shaair lunged and ended up hitting Trevor right in the head. Trevor immediately seemed to commence “fencing posture,” which happens after a traumatic brain injury. He was carted off the field and did not return to the game.

After the hit, several Jags players got into a fight with Azeez Al-Shaair, and a brawl ensued on the field. Al-Shaair was ejected from the game after the hit.
We had not heard from Trevor until he sent out a post on X, indicating he was alright.
At 9:35 pm local time, hours after the hit happened, Trevor posted, “Thank you to everyone who has reached out / been praying for me. I’m home and feeling better. Means a lot, thank you all🙌🏼”
This was Trevor‘s first game back since week 10, after he suffered another injury.
Trevor‘s head coach, Doug Pederson, shared, “I was excited for Trevor to get back out there and start for our team and lead our football team this week. It’s unfortunate. It’s a play that really has no business being in our league. I thought the officials did a great job of doing the best they could to get control of it and all of that.”
This is the second major quarterback concussion of the 2024-2025 NFL season.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out / been praying for me. I’m home and feeling better. Means a lot, thank you all🙌🏼
