I was Mike Tyson’s last boxing opponent, if he lands on the chin it’s going to be problematic for Jake Paul

Roy Jones Jr was the last man to share the ring with Mike Tyson

JAKE PAUL has been warned he is in for disaster if Mike Tyson can land flush on his chin.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul takes on heavyweight boxing icon Tyson in a controversial clash on July 20 in Texas.

Paul is 9-1 as a boxer, suffering his only defeat last year to Tommy Fury before bouncing back with three straight wins.

Tyson meanwhile retired in 2005 officially but did return in 2020 to draw over eight exhibition rounds with fellow great Roy Jones Jr.

And Jones can vouch for the power Iron Mike still posses – despite the fact he will be 58 by the time of the bout.

Jones, 55, said on The Lunch Club: “The Jake Paul Mike Tyson fight is not an exhibition, I’ve heard it’s been upgraded to a fight.

“If it’s a fight, it’s very intriguing how it may turn out because Jake Paul has gotten a lot better as a boxer over the days but Mike Tyson even at 58 or however old he is, is still Mike Tyson.

“When I boxed him, he still punched like Mike Tyson. If he hits anybody square on the chin it’s going to be problematic, I don’t care who it is.

“I like Jake Paul, he’s a good guy and he’s doing good with his boxing stuff.

“I think it’s a good promotional situation for him and Mike, they should go really good numbers especially having upgraded to a real fight.

“If Mike comes out and does what Mike normally does, then it’s going to be a tough situation for Jake.

“If Jake can stay away from him for four or five rounds, then Jake has a chance but he’s going to have to do a lot of manoeuvring to stay away from him.”

Jake Paul fumes ‘we live in a f***ed up world’ over shock claims Mike Tyson fight has an ‘agreed’ ending

Paul has come under criticism amid the 30-year age gap between him and Tyson.

And still details such as whether it will be professionally sanctioned or not are yet to be revealed despite the news headguards will NOT be worn.

Paul spoke out in defence of the fight for the ages and insisted it will be his toughest test to date.

He said on his podcast: “I am biting off a lot.

“This is definitely the toughest, most savage, lethal opponent regardless of age, because the power is the last thing to go.

“But the reaction and reception of it is insane. I almost can’t even believe it, so very surreal and very, very grateful for all of that.”
