Missy revealed she didn't care what people thought of her name or her daughter's

The protective mum said: “I have something to say about baby names.

“Whenever I see people commenting saying like, ‘You have to make sure it suits them when they’re an adult like they’re not gonna be cute forever’, I disagree. “

The mum, who has used the name Missy her entire life has said she has constantly been bullied for name with people saying it sounded rude.

“I’ve been told that my name sounds like a stripper’s name, a dog’s name, whatever you name it under the sun so many times, and it has not once ever bothered me,” she continued.

And the mum revealed she would be instilling the same mindset into her daughter who she has called Coco.

She added she wasn’t going to take opinions form grown adults online being negative.

Missy finished the video saying: “Moral of the story, name your kid what feels right because they’re gonna rock it.

“It’s their name.”

She added that Missy wasn’t her legal name but had gone by it for years and found her actual name too boring.

The clip went viral on her TikTok account @missyholliday and people quickly took to the comments defending the mum.

One person wrote: “Same here! The amount of times I’ve had comments on my daughters name “Darlah” apparently it’s not lady like.”

Another commented: “This is exactly what I say!! The name becomes them so in 10, 20 years it’s no a big deal! Plus it gives character…”

“Crazy how people really feel they need to tell you have they feel about a name! Like is it yours? Then why care lol,” penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “I got so much hate when I named my first son (Oxley). I don’t know why people think they have a right to judge & comment on other peoples names.”

“Me with the name “Raven”, I have gotten comments my whole life and I still love it,” claimed a fifth.

Are Unique Baby Names Worth The Hassle?

Fabulous’ Deputy Editor reveals the turmoil she faced with her own name while growing up.

When I was a child, all I wanted was one of those personalised keyrings with my name on it.

But no joy, the closest I could find was Rosie, Joseph (not great for a little girl) and Joanne.

Josie is short for Josephine, which is a French name, and I managed to reach my 20s without ever meeting anyone who shared it.

When I try to introduce myself to people, I get all sorts of random things – like Tracey and Stacey – which can be pretty annoying.

Although I have come into contact with a couple of Josies over the last year – there seems to be a few of us around my age – it’s still a much rarer name than most of my friends have.

On the whole I don’t mind it, at least it’s not rude or crazily spelt.

And it means I can get away with ‘doing a Cheryl’ and just referring to myself as Josie.

I’m getting married this year and some friends are shocked that I’m changing my surname, as it’s not seen as very cool or feminist to do so these days, but I explain to them that I’m not that attached to Griffiths as I’d always just say ‘hi it’s Josie’ when ringing a mate up.

I think it’s nice to be unique and I’ll definitely try and replicate this when naming my own kids.

It’s the rude names you’ve got to watch out for, so after nine years as a lifestyle journalist I’ll definitely be avoiding those.

Someone else added: “What is your legal name? If you don’t mind sharing.”

Missy replied: “Melissa-Jane, doesn’t suit me at all.”
