HOWARD Stern went live on his SiriusXM channel Wednesday morning to make a “special announcement,” following news of his show’s cancellation.
Stern teased the announcement on his show’s Instagram page just before he went live on Howard 100.
The post on the page said “SURPRISE! Howard Stern is LIVE,” with a call to fans to tune into his Sirius channel, Howard 100.
The announcement came on the heels of The U.S. Sun’s exclusive that SiriusXM would be parting ways with Stern after his contract expires later this year.
In the caption, the show said the announcement would be with Lars Ulrich for Metallica.
Stern took a break from his show’s summer hiatus, which lasts from June to September, to make the announcement.
After much chit-chat with the metal musician, Stern prompted Lars to drop the announcement.
Lars then dove into it: “We are so psyched. We are so honored. We’re so f****** grateful to be able to say the following statement: Metallica is getting its own serious Channel.
“Channel 42 right at the end of the Rock and Roll dial there, right, 42 will be Maximum Metallica, it will be called, and it comes at the end of the month.”
