Homecoming Star Geffri Maya in Workout Gear Reflects on Series Finale

Geffri Maya is reflecting on the series finale of All American: Homecoming – in her workout gear. In a new social media post the actress shows off her amazing body in exercise clothes, while discussing the show’s ending. “I have a lot of feelings today,” she writes in the caption of the Instagram post. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Geffri learned how to play tennis for her role in All Amercian. “When I first found out that the pilot was greenlit, I wanted to take the time to learn tennis out of respect for the sport. I wanted to immerse myself in a way that was respectful to the sport. I enjoyed every minute of being able to say, I learned for the sake of his role in this opportunity. Training was not easy at all; I had to get a trainer to keep my stamina and keep my body in tact. Then, I also had to get a tennis coach to learn the foundation of the sport, the history of the sport. Overall, it was challenging, but it was worth it. It was beneficial and I hope that people who do play tennis are able to see the work that was put in, and are hopefully appreciative of the story that we’re trying to tell, especially for Black female athletes,” she told Teen Vogue.

Geffri called herself a “breakfast enthusiast” to WCCB Charlotte. “I eat the same thing every morning. Definitely any type of protein. I prefer Turkey bacon or chicken apple sausage. I love a scrambled egg. I love a fried egg. I love a frittata. I love a boiled egg. I love a type of hash brown” She also likes french toast and “cream of wheat with a little bit of butter and sugar,” she adds. “If I could have it my way, that is what I eat in the morning. But I also, I’m just so open to breakfast. I just love breakfast. I love omelets. I love shrimp and grits. I love catfish and grits and eggs. Steak and eggs, steak and eggs and potatoes. I love it all.”

Geffri has a strong drive to succeed. “What are dreams without a journey? With any and every passion or profession, there’s challenges to be met on the way! The biggest challenge thus far within my career is facing rejection! Rejection is something we as artist deal with everyday…many for reasons that are beyond our control! But I’ve always been raised to believe and embrace that with rejection, comes blessings! What I continue to gain amidst my challenge is that with every door closed, there’s one opening FILLED with endless possibilities and opportunities to carry us on our path of purpose,” she told Voyage LA.

Besides being an actress, writer and director Geffri has “been blessed with many other talents too like dancing, singing and painting! I’m most proud of the mindset that my mother has instilled in me…to be open to expressing ALL that is in me and continue to let my artistry be led with things that come from genuine places: my heart and soul,” she told Voyage LA.

Geffri is happy that her show could inspire young, black college and sports hopefulls. “It’s profound because I know that there’s a lot of amazingly talented athletes that are choosing to go to HBCUs, again, just to give back to the community with their talents,” Maya says of the sports focus. “PWIs [predominantly white institutions] and other institutions, of course, we could go there, but if you have an opportunity to play the sport that you love and put a school on the map that was created for you, by people that look like you, it’s a win-win in that case. It’s just profound to me to be able to tell stories about Black athletes in general because at the end of the day, we are more than just our talents, and we deserve to show that human aspect to them as well,” she told PS.
