First Responders Stopped A Bigger Tragedy From Occurring On The Francis Scott Key Bridge
The audio of the moments before the bridge collapsed went viral on TikTok, capturing a law enforcer dispatching men to stop cars from crossing. He explained that the approaching Dali vessel had lost control, saying:
“One of you guys on the south side, one of you guys on the north side, hold on traffic on the Key bridge. There’s a ship approaching that just lost their steering.”
The man in the audio noted that they had to stop all traffic until the situation was under control. However, another cop responded that things had gone south, telling dispatch that the “whole bridge just fell down… the whole bridge just collapsed.”

Two People Were Rescued Following The Bridge’s Collapse
The loss of Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge sparked a massive emergency response that is still ongoing.
James Wallace, chief of the Baltimore City Fire Department, revealed at a news conference that two people were rescued in the initial hours of the search.
Unfortunately, one is in “very serious condition,” while the other is unharmed. It is unclear if these people are part of the seven believed to be in the Patapsco River, but they are suspected to be part of the construction workers on the bridge when it collapsed.
According to Paul Wiedefeld, Maryland Transportation Secretary, multiple contractors were working on “concrete deck” repairs on the bridge when it collapsed. However, it is unclear how many workers were on the bridge when it collapsed.
As for the cargo ship’s crew, Wallace noted they were all on the boat but could not be rescued until the vessel had been assessed for damages.

Wiedefeld noted at a news conference that the cargo ship is currently not suspected of intentionally causing the bridge’s collapse.
He confirmed that authorities have found no evidence to indicate the incident was intentional or an act of terrorism, saying:
“We don’t see anything that relates to that. It’s an open investigation, but there’s nothing that points in that direction.”
