The brilliant, whirring cover of the track – which was one of the singles from Deftones’ 1997 ‘Around the Fur’ LP – has been done as part of the Spotify Singles series.

Its release has been accompanied by some behind-the-scenes footage of HEALTH working on it in the studio, with the band’s John Famiglietti explaining how vocalist Jake Duzsik “has always been compared” to Deftones frontman Chino Moreno.

Have a watch of the BTS below, and listen to the track as well, which both pays homage to the original banger and gives it a new lease of life.

HEALTH released their ‘Rat Wars’ album at the end of last year via Loma Vista Recordings, with Famiglietti giving us a track-by-track run-through of the album.

Of the track ‘SICKO’, for instance, he shared:

“As you might have gathered this song samples the classic 1989 Godflesh record ‘LIKE RATS’.

“During the making of this album we were listening to a lot of classic early Earache records, I got to meet Justin Broadrick in person to ask his permission and he gave me the thumbs up.”
