Pairing Guillermo del Toro with Mary Shelley might be as delicious as peanut butter and jelly, as seen in this teaser trailer for the Oscar-winning filmmaker’s adaptation of Frankenstein. This first look at del Toro’s take on the classic story features Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein, with Jacob Elordi set to play the doctor’s (exceptionally tall) monster. The movie is set to premiere on Netflix this November.
Del Toro has been developing his take on Frankenstein for over a decade, calling Shelley’s original text “my favorite novel in the world,” and few filmmakers have felt better suited to taking on one of cinema’s most famous monsters. That said, there have been a few other adaptations featuring the character — at least 190.
This new version of Frankenstein also stars Mia Goth, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Charles Dance, and Christoph Waltz. Del Toro both wrote and directed the film, with famed composer Alexandre Desplat providing the music. Check out the new trailer below — if you dare…
