Athlete-turned-broadcast journalist Gretchen Ho is admittedly not a water person which was why her recent diving experience was a big show of guts.

Ho related how she faced her fears in an Instagram post where he discussed how to gain confidence — by facing one’s fears head on.

“I think the last time I did this was in 2015 or 2016. I’m strong on land, but not so good (in) water. Didn’t really have formal training for swimming in my younger years,” she initially said in her post.

Recently, though, she said that she chose to ward off her fears by going diving, and experience that tested her confidence in her self, and one in which she ended up not being sorry for as it offered her a chance to become a better person.

“Did a refresher yesterday with Mark Laang and Checosey’s Crib in the swimming pool, just right before our dive. Then off we went to the shore,” she recalled.

She felt that the experience was more than good, even though she “came out after 45 minutes with pain in my ear and half my auditory senses, but the dive felt so so so gooooood.”

“Need to get used to equalizing with pressure, but I felt like I had calmer energy and more control over my body. I knew how to adjust better to what I felt down there too,” she said.

“The less you fear, the more power you will have, and the more fully you will live.” So happy to get back in the water and prep myself for bigger missions / coverages / shoots ahead!” she added. EDV
