Giancarlo Esposito has revealed that he’s finally joined the MCU. There’s been much discussion surrounding a possible Marvel casting for Esposito, with some early buzz surrounding him playing the MCU’s Professor X. However, it seems like Giancarlo Esposito will not play the X-Men leader, but has instead joined the MCU as a mystery character. Esposito teases his character will be “new and fresh.”

The audio of the video, which we first saw on GameSpot, is cut off at the start. But it sounds like Esposito began by confirming he would be in an MCU movie, sharing something like, “Being in a Marvel movie, that will come true.” After this, Esposito goes on to say, “I cannot promise you it’ll be Professor X, because here’s what I think. I think that there’s something about being original. We’ve seen different versions of Professor X. Wouldn’t you like to see me play a character in a Marvel movie who is original, and new, and fresh? So, mark my words: This will happen sooner than you think.”

But which MCU character will Giancarlo Esposito play? Could he join Thunderbolts, Captain America: Brave New World, or The Fantastic Four? Could Esposito have actually been cast in an project that hasn’t even been announced yet? It’s too soon to tell. But we’re glad to have him on board either way.
