They’re the best. They’re the beautiful. They’re the only, Ghostbusters. And they’re back! The latest Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire trailer fires up the nostalgia with the return of the original team and more familiar faces — some slimier than others.
Blasting into theaters on March 22nd, the fourth entry in the primary Ghostbusters franchise follows 2012’s Afterlife. While some might argue that film leaned perhaps too hard into nostalgia, Frozen Empire isn’t shying away from delivering treats to longtime fans, even as it presents a whole new Big Bad.
In this film, one of the Ghostbusters’ most persistent adversaries, Walter Peck (William Atherton), is still a prickly little thorn in their side, using what appears to be his freshly conferred mayoral powers to shut down the new ‘Busters (McKenna Grace, Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard, and Carrie Coon). But when an ice cold ancient evil arrises, Egon Spengler’s descendants will have to team up with his old brethren in proton packs, as Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and yes, Annie Potts don the tan jumpsuits.
Venkman, Stantz, Zeddemore, and Melnitz aren’t the only ones returning to action either, as the trailer reveals that the iconic class 5 full roaming vapor known affectionally as Slimer is also back to his gluttonous ways. Even the Library Ghost returns for more fright!
