Arch Manning’s recruitment is down to four main schools with two others lingering in the mix. Georgia, Alabama, Ole Miss and Texas are believed to be his top choices with LSU and Florida hanging around.

Because of who he is and the name that he carries, Manning’s recruitment has been treated unlike any other in recent years. Everybody wants to know his every move, and for good reason— he is a generational talent who could lead his college program to new heights.

However, Georgia football fans are doing exactly what they are not supposed to do. They’re being creepy.

Manning is taking his first spring visit this weekend and he is in Athens for a return visit to the University of Georgia.

While there, the 18-year-old will get a better feel for the program and what meetings and practices look like. He can also continue to explore the college town.

Apparently, that is what he was doing on Saturday morning.

Manning and his family stopped at The Mayflower Restaurant, a historic spot that first opened in 1948 and offers homestyle breakfast and lunch eats. He was just trying to enjoy a meal.

Instead of just being allowed to eat in private, Manning had at least one Bulldog fan creepily take his picture from across the restaurant. The man, who looks about as ‘Georgia fan’ as they come (based on his Twitter profile picture), also claimed to do the one thing that no grown man should ever do.

There are two unspoken, but very, very important rules when it comes to recruiting:

  1. Don’t tweet ‘croots, meaning that no grown man should tweet at a high schooler telling him why he should commit to a specific school.
  2. Don’t accost them in public, meaning that no grown man should approach a high schooler and tell him in person why he should commit to a specific school.

Well, the Georgia fan who discreetly took a photo of Manning told on himself for breaking the No. 2 rule. He said that he “put in some good words.”

Let’s be very clear here. There is a zero percent chance that a very Georgia-fan-looking Georgia fan walking up to Arch Manning and “putting in a good word” was at all helpful in anyway. If anything, Manning probably just wanted the very Georgia-fan-looking Georgia fan to leave him alone and let him eat.

But, I guess that is what we should expect from grown men and women who bark like dogs.
