General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that there could be another recast in the works at the ABC soap. Fans have been buzzing about Vanessa Marcil’s (ex-Brenda Barrett) comments since she went live on TikTok recently and opened up about declining to return to the show.
When the option of a Brenda Barrett recast was brought up, Marcil apparently gave them her full blessing.
That means someone else could be playing Brenda Barrett if the show decides to bring her back to Port Charles.
Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean the powers that be will move forward with that plan, but it’s interesting to know they’re considering it.
Insiders have been weighing in with their wishful casting choices, so it’s something that could potentially happen.
Brenda was certainly a popular love interest for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), so it’s easy to see why they’d want to bring her back.
If anyone can steal Sonny away from Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and even Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), it’s Brenda!
On social media, it seems like fans are divided about whether Brenda should return with a new face.
Some viewers are on board with a new version of Brenda if that’s what it takes to get her on canvas again.
Others feel like there’s no point if Vanessa Marcil isn’t the one playing Brenda, so it’s safe to say a recast would be met with a mixed reaction.
It’s possible that Marcil will change her mind at some point and return as Brenda, but that’s obviously not something she’s interested in doing right now.
With that in mind, GH will have to rely on another actress to play Brenda if they want to pursue storylines that involve her.
Fans are still trying to process the news of Kate Mansi taking over for Lexi Ainsworth as a Kristina Corinthos-Davis recast, but now there’s evidence that maybe Brenda Barett could be recast, too.
