General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that the show will need an exit strategy for Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez). Deadline is reporting that Chavez is headed to Netflix for an amazing new gig, so let’s talk about what we know so far.
Ryan Murphy’s Monster anthology series proved to be a major hit when The Jeffrey Dahmer Story was released, which starred Evan Peters.
Now that casting is underway for the second season, Chavez has scored one of the two main roles.
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is in the works, so look for Chavez to play Lyle while Cooper Koch portrays Erik.
Of course, GH viewers may be wondering what this means for Spencer’s future in Port Charles.
It’s obvious that Nicholas Alexander Chavez is ready to branch out and focus on bigger projects.
With that in mind, it’s safe to say Chavez won’t be renewing his contract with General Hospital.
The show will either have to write Spencer out or find a recast to take over.
This is an especially tough blow for “Sprina” fans who have been rooting for Spencer’s love story with Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali), which has been moving at a snail’s pace.
We can understand wanting to play a sizzling slow-burn romance, but TPTB might end up regretting that now that “Sprina” may be ending with so much untapped potential.
Even if a Spencer recast comes on the scene, there’s no guarantee that the chemistry can be recreated.
The show managed to make it work when Tabyana Ali took over for Sydney Mikayla, but can the “Sprina” pairing survive a recast on Spencer’s side, too?
Regardless, Spencer has become an important younger character on the show and is tangled up in multiple storylines.
It’ll be interesting to see whether Spencer heads offscreen like Nikolas Cassadine (last played by Adam Huss) or if they let someone else try their luck in Spencer’s shoes.
Whatever the case, Nicholas Alexander Chavez is on his way out now that he’s set to star in such an impressive new Netflix series, so it’s wise to prepare for big changes in Port Charles.
