General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that many fans are wondering whether Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Nina Corinthos (Cynthia Watros) are truly on the verge of divorce. Nina’s betrayal hit Sonny hard, but is it worth ending their marriage over?
On X, the social media app formerly known as Twitter, Maurice Benard responded to a question that’s been on plenty of GH viewers’ minds.
Ryan from TV Source sent a message to Benard requesting his thoughts on the breakup before asking if this was really the end for Sonny and Nina.
Although Benard has nothing but love for his co-star, he chose not to weigh in on the story itself.
“i’ll say it again I love Cynthia Watros I stay out of the storyline better for my health I do the best I can with what I’m given,” Benard said in his reply.
Of course, Benard didn’t confirm what the future holds for Sonny and Nina, but he didn’t sound very optimistic.
It’s no secret that Benard likes working with Watros and that he’s been a fan of Sonny’s pairing with Nina.
If Nina and Sonny were going to last, it seems like he’d say something like “keep watching” or “stay tuned!”
Instead, Maurice Benard’s response made it seem like he disapproves of the writing he’s getting.
That could mean that Sonny and Nina’s split will stick – at least for a while.
There are some big shifts happening on canvas as we head into the writing transition, so Nina and Sonny’s divorce could be part of all that.
If Sonny and Nina are indeed over, it’ll be interesting to see their new romantic directions.
Nina could easily get back together with Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart), but what about Sonny?
Since Sonny is feeling betrayed by Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) as well, that could hinder his chances of a “CarSon” reunion.
Could Sonny end up with Ava Jerome (Maura West) or perhaps someone else instead?
Time will tell, but fans will be eager to see what’s in store for Sonny and Nina as they potentially head down different paths.
