General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that there’s some sad news to report about a longtime soap star and fan favorite. On social media, GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini confirmed that Jacklyn Zeman (Bobbie Spencer) has passed away at the age of 70.
“On behalf of our @GeneralHospital family, I am heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved @JackieZeman. Just like her character, the legendary Bobbie Spencer, she was a bright light and true professional that brought so much positive energy with her to work,” Valentini tweeted on May 10.
Zeman’s absence will certainly be felt in Port Charles, so Valentini went on to talk about what this loss would mean to everyone who worked with her as well as those who knew her on a more personal level.
“Jackie will be greatly missed, but her positive spirit will always live on with our cast and crew. We send our heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones, friends, and family, especially her daughters Cassidy and Lacey,” Valentini said.
As word started to spread, many fans sent out their own sincere condolences and talked about what a huge impact Jacklyn Zeman made during her decades on daytime television.
Bobbie Spencer won’t be forgotten – and neither will her talented portrayer. Although this is a tough farewell, Zeman leaves behind quite a legacy since she started at GH back in 1977.
It hasn’t been that long since the news of Sonya Eddy’s (Epiphany Johnson) sudden passing, so Jacklyn Zeman’s death marks another loss that came far too soon.
Of course, the show will no doubt do a lovely tribute for Zeman at some point down the road. Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and so many others in Port Charles will have to say a crushing goodbye to Bobbie when the time comes.
