SOME of the world’s biggest rugby sporting stars swapped muddy scrums for the red carpet at the glitzy premiere of Netflix’s latest documentary: Six Nations: Full Contact.
But it was the players’ WAGs who led the pack during the rare opportunity to catch a glimpse of the women who are often pitch-side cheering the men on.
And this glamorous bunch really know how to turn heads off pitch.
Scotland‘s Finn Russell‘s stunning partner Emma Canning shared a photo of the two of them on the red carpet on her social media, and used the opportunity to announce the news they’re expecting their second baby.
Accompanying the pic, she wrote: “Just the three of us on the carpet…” with a baby emoji, and was met with a flurry of congratulatory messages.
The Netflix series Six Nations: Full Contact is a documentary showing behind the scenes at the 2023 championship as the best rugby teams in Europe battled it out for the coveted title.
While all eyes are understandably on the players during games, away from the pitch their partners have some surprising back stories with their own careers and projects on the go.
From the ‘world’s sexiest jockey’ to a seriously glam model, we take a look at the very glamorous women behind some of rugby’s biggest names…
Saffron Barker – partner of Louis Rees-Zammit
Social influencer Saffron, 23, and her Wales winger boyfriend Louis made their romance official back in November.
They marked the momentous occasion with their first public outing together, attending the Hunger Games premiere before sharing a picture of them kissing on Instagram.
Wales and Gloucester winger Louis hit the headlines this week after he announced he will leave rugby union to try to make it in American Football.
The 22-year-old released the bombshell statement just minutes before Wales’ Six Nations squad was revealed, to which his girlfriend Saffron replied: “So proud of you.”
YouTube sensation Saffron became a household name herself back in 2019, when she starred on BBC dancing competition, Strictly Come Dancing.
And while the podcast host is only 23, she’s super successful, buying her first £1m property in Brighton in 2021 and renovating it into her dream home.
Beth Dolling – partner of Marcus Smith
Model Beth Dolling, 24, and England fly half boyfriend Marcus have been together for around four years.
While she can often be found at the sidelines supporting her beau, Beth is also extremely busy with her own career too.
She has over 36k Instagram followers, and has appeared in campaigns for several big online fashion giants including PrettyLittleThing, Missy Empire and Rebellious and is represented by M Models Management.
She’s also carving out a career as a singer, and posts videos of her covering popular songs on YouTube.
Emma Canning – partner of Finn Russell
Emma Canning and Scotland fly half Finn Russell have been together for a number of years.
While the pair briefly split in 2021 they soon reconciled and they’ve not looked back, and appear happier than ever, with Emma captioning a carousel of pics and videos with: “Living a life I’ve always dreamed of.”
As well as their recent pregnancy announcement just last week, they also share a baby daughter called Charlie, who was born December 2022.
Emma is also a talented sports star too, previously competing in the heptathlon and at the Commonwealth Games, although she has since battled injury.
In 2022, Canning posted a picture of herself and Finn, but a troll commented: “Must be invigorating to know your only talent is to be in a relationship with a talented person.”
She responded with: “Actually – there’s room for two Scottish athletes in our relationship. Lol.”
Leonna Mayor – partner of Stuart Hogg
Former Scotland full back Stuart Hogg, 31, and Leonna Mayor, 32, went ‘Instagram official’ at the end of last year, following Stuart’s split from his wife of seven years, Gillian.
The pair then welcomed in 2024 together, with Stuart boasting about starting the New Year “with the best”.
Sky Sports TV presenter Leonna was named the ‘world’s sexiest jockey’ in 2013, when she posed in her underwear for a Zoo magazine.
She previously won 32 races between 2009 and 2013 but was forced to retire due an ankle injury.
The star has also been commended for bravely speaking about her ‘rapidly worsening’ skin condition vitiligo, helping to raise awareness on social media.
Elaine Sutton – partner Andrew Porter
Last summer Ireland prop Andrew and Elaine celebrated ‘the happiest day” of their lives as they tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony after over five years together.
Sharing photos on social media of their big day and her gorgeous dress, loved-up Elaine – who describes herself as a ‘chicken wing enthusiast’ on Instagram – wrote: “Best few days of my life.
“I have never danced or laughed as much ever. I may be biased but we have the best friends and family in the world.”
Speaking about the documentary, Porter recently said: “I was given the option to review it and I refused.
“I can’t listen to myself talking or watch myself so I just gave it to the lads in the IRFU to get their thoughts and they said it was satisfactory, so I’ll take that.
“I think my sister and my wife are more worried because they were on it for a bit.
“I don’t really mind if people see behind the scenes, there’s not a lot going on to be fair.”
Dina Celina – partner of Blair Kinghorn
Scotland full back Blair has been with health expert Dina for more than three years, and the pair announced their engagement back in November.
The proposal happened during a romantic break with partner Dina Celina at the posh Gleneagles Hotel.
The 32-year old Dina is a globally-renowned nutritionist, and owns and runs her own company.
Alex Biggae – partner of Dan Biggar
Adorably, Wales fly half Dan has been with his childhood sweetheart Alex since they were at school.
They wed in 2016, and they share one son, and Dan has previously revealed his wife is his biggest fan and support.
He previously told the Mail on Sunday: “My wife will be the first person I call if I make the team.
“When I left home for the camp in Jersey, she slipped a bunch of envelopes in my bag.
“They were all labelled with different things like, “If selection doesn’t go well, open this”, ‘If you’re feeling homesick, open this”, “If training went badly, open this”.
Alex runs a successful cake business, Biggar Bakes, specialising in creating bespoke buttercream cakes, and was previously a primary school teacher.
