When it was reported that former One Direction singer Liam Payne had fallen to his death from a hotel balcony, many people wondered exactly how such a terrible thing could have happened.

Gradually, as more information has been released, the picture of what transpired on that fateful day has become more clear.

Now, an Argentinian broadcast journalist, Paula Varela, has claimed that security camera footage shows Liam Payne fell to his death after passing out on his third floor balcony at CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires on Oct. 16. She also, according to the Mirror, suggested that authorities were trying to keep the footage concealed from the public.

“There is footage that is not being released to the media with the balcony scene where you see that Liam faints and tragically, because of where he is, falls from that balcony,” Varela claimed on the TV show Socios del Espectaculo on Buenos Aires’ Canal 13.

“If he had been beside his bed, he would have fallen on his bed. It’s not that he jumped deliberately. This footage is in the official case file.”

Varela added, “It’s not that he jumped deliberately. This footage is in the official case files.”

If true, that would corroborate previous reports that Liam Payne was unconscious when he fell off the balcony and did not actually jump.

Buenos Aires authorities had earlier told Page Six in a statement that “due to the position in which the body was left and the injuries from the fall, it is presumed that Payne did not adopt a reflex posture to protect himself and that he could have fallen while in a state of semi- or total unconsciousness.”

Varela also claimed on the show that, as previously reported, investigators are looking at hotel employees for possibly being involved in supplying Liam Payne with drugs in his suite.

Multiple news outlets have claimed a toxicology report revealed Liam Payne had at least six different drugs in his system when he fell to his death.
