Cannibalism, spirits, and music, oh my! That feels like it sums up the new Studio 666 trailer released by the Foo Fighters for their upcoming horror comedy movie. Of course, we’ve gotten sneak peeks at Studio 666 before. But now we have both our first full introduction to the film and its extra gory Red Band counterpart. And we have to say, the movie looks absolutely delightful. (But also not for the faint of heart.)
And honestly, how could it not? The film is basically just fanfic written by the Foo Fighters about themselves. And in their alternate universe, they live in a high-camp horror movie. So we have no choice but to stan harder. If we got famous, this seems like exactly what we’d do.
The movie looks like it starts off like many horror movies before it. A problem exists that can only get solved with a special retreat… to a haunted house. Except for this time, the problem is the Foo Fighters need to write new music. Amazing. We can already tell that beyond the obvious hilarious fanfic conceit of it all, this movie will be chock-full of nods to Foo Fighters fans. Like Dave Grohl attempting to compose “Everlong”… again. We can’t wait to see everyone poke fun at themselves, honestly. All while spirits circle, monsters emerge, and band-on-band violence lurks as an ever-present threat.
The official description of the movie shares:
In Studio 666, the legendary rock band Foo Fighters move into an Encino mansion steeped in grisly rock and roll history to record their much anticipated 10th album. Once in the house, Dave Grohl finds himself grappling with supernatural forces that threaten both the completion of the album and the lives of the band.
In its Red Band trailer, we get treated to a gorier look at Studio 666.
And this trailer aptly sums up the whole film. “Dave Grohl’s been possessed. Now he’s on a murderous rampage.” Cheers. This darker look at the Foo Fighter’s horror-comedy movies makes us a little squeamish, honestly. It does not hold back. And it features everything from bloody entrails to a grilling forehead… Delicious. Honestly, this movie seems darker than we first imagined. So good for you, Foo Fighters. Because if you make a horror movie, you may as well go all in.
Ultimately, we only hope the band makes it out of the “creepy rock ‘n roll house that allows spiritual entities to cross into our world.” We, and the people of alternate-Foo-reality, need that 10th album.
Good luck, Foo Fighters; we know you can save each other and save the music. And especially save Dave Grohl, who seems like he needs help in these trailers. A lot of help. The Foo Fighters’ movie releases in theaters on February 25. You can buy tickets for Studio 666 right now. Don’t delay or Dave Grohl might come after your blood. Just kidding. Maybe…
