Fever 333 have dropped their first studio track in three years, releasing fiery new single ‘$wing’ today.
A track that takes aim at the sports industry’s historical exploitation of people of colour and the fight for agency, with frontman Jason Aalon Butler’s typically socially conscious lyrics.
It arrives with a music video, produced and directed by Djay Brawner – have a watch below.
Describing the track’s social message and how the song addresses it, Butler has said:
“In a system that exploits the aforementioned instruments of power (the people) for financial and political advancement, we must collectively understand and redirect the dynamic once we realize that we are not powerless against it.”
“‘$WING’ is a sonic reminder that you are the power that they seek and you are the resource they need.”
The latest single release follows a recent line-up change for Fever 333, with Butler now joined by Thomas Pridgen (The Mars Volta, Thundercat, Trash Talk) on drums, bassist April Kae, and guitarist Brandon Davis.
The band are now just days out from embarking on a number of festivals across Europe – see the full dates below, and the band’s site for more information.
